{ Presidio County Project }
The goal is a manufacturing and fabrication center staffed by individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Residents collaborate with engineers, designers, and mentors to prototype technologies that improve shelter life—modular furniture, privacy solutions, sanitation innovations, and low-cost energy systems. The shelter becomes a living laboratory where ideas are tested in real time. The concept transforms shelters from places of last resort into hubs of creativity, invention, and entrepreneurship.
Employment is stable, predictable, and structured around supportive services. Participants have access to counseling, transportation, meals, and financial coaching. This ensures they can focus on skill-building and other advancements. The structure ensures that workers have a voice and learn how to use it. We will partner with tech companies, universities, and nonprofits to create a pipeline of innovation and employment opportunities.
Over time, the hub becomes a leader in ethical, community-centered manufacturing. Products designed and built by formerly unhoused individuals demonstrate that compassion and innovation can coexist. This fusion of labor and technology positions the cooperative as a leader in modern urban renewal. Participants not only rebuild neighborhoods—they rebuild their futures through ownership, skill mastery, and community empowerment.
